Sebastian Gutierrez, our Founder and President, is a junior at St. George’s Independent School in Collierville, Tennessee. His soccer career began at the age of 4 while living in Madrid, Spain and continues to be a large part of his life. For the past two summers, he has trained in the residency program of Inter Granada CF Academy in Granada, Spain. During the remainder of the year, Sebastian plays club with Germantown Legends 07/08 ECNL-RL and Varsity soccer with St. George’s.
Traveling extensively with his family, Sebastian has seen first-hand that while access to soccer is not universal, it is universally-loved. In Morocco, kids kick around a piece of plastic on a roof top. In the Colombian Amazon, barefoot children pass a thread-bare ball in the mud. In Spain, strangers become teammates in the street while their parents finish long lunches. Nothing unites the world like soccer.
The idea for Bluff City Gear Givers came from cleaning out his own closet. Multiplying his outgrown gear by the Memphis soccer community, Sebastian found a way to make an impact on the world scale while staying true to his love of the game.
